Bluenose II Painted Medium

The Bluenose II was the successor of the original Bluenose built in 1921 by Nova Scotia. It is an iconic schooner for the Canadian Maritime Provinces. You may find an image of the Bluenose on a Canadian dime. This model will make a perfect gift for home or office decorator, boat enthusiast, or passionate collector.

Master craftsmen handcraft these highly detailed wood models from scratch using historical photographs, drawings and original plan. They are built to scale with high-grade wood such as: western red cedar, rosewood, and mahogany. They are 100% hand built individually using plank-on-frame construction method and are similar to the building of actual ships. Each model requires hundreds of hours to finish and must go through a demanding quality control process before leaving the workshop.

The Bluenose II is beautifully painted in a rosewood color with an upper black hull. The masts and booms are painted yellow. All the sails are stitched and meticulously rigged. On the deck, there are authentic lifeboats with ribs and planks. The bowsprit goes through the gunwale and are kept secured with riggings. On the deck, you can see several wooden cabins, companion ways and hatches. There are also metal “Bluenose II” nameplates attached to hull. It is truly a remarkable representation of the Bluenose II.

The model is secured tightly on a solid wood base with a brass nameplate. The masts and sails are folded down for easy packaging and shipping. Assembly may take about 30 minutes or more.

Boats

- What are model boats?

Model boats are made from different types of wood. The boats are made like real boats - first, the ribs of the boat are assembled, then the wood is added to the outside. The masts of our model boats are made of fabric that the masts of real boats of the past were also made out of. Last, the decorations are added, such as the bronze cannons. It is possible to have a boat made completely as the client wishes. We sell the best-known Dutch and German historical boats as default. These boats are purchased from a boat supplier. We can supply display cases with the boats. The displays protect the boats and prevent dust from getting on them. A special category among the boats is the speedboats. These are made in the same way as the historical boats. Even the interior of the boat is made of real leather. These speedboats have the option of being made in life-size.

- Can model ships float?

Classic boats cannot float. This is because there is no load in the boats. Hence, they are too light to float on the water. The speed boats, on the other hand, can float and are suitable to present themselves that way.

- Can you control a model ship or boat?

Yes, the boats can be fitted with remote-controlled motors. However, this is at an additional cost. There is also an option for us to prepare the boats remote-controlled without motors. This is also with additional charges.

- How are SFD display boats transported?

They are packed in a crate with rubber bands. This way the boats are unable to move, preventing any damage done to the boats. We deliver our model boats to any country of your choice. Depending on the size of the boat, there may be some additional costs. If this is the case, we will always let you know in advance.
