Royal Louis, hoisted sails

The Royal Louis was a 110-gun ship of the line of the French Royal Navy. She was renamed Républicain in September 1792. Under this name, she took part in the Third Battle of Ushant, as the last ship of the French rearguard. She was attacked, totally dismantled and struck her colours; however, the British failed to take possession and she returned to Rochefort.
On 24 December 1794, she took part in the Croisière du Grand Hiver. Only when the fleet left the port of Brest, she ran aground with 10 men lost. The crew abandoned the ship and the wreck was, unfortunately, destroyed by a storm a few days later.
